Door of the New Medical School

Centre universitaire des Saints Pères 45 Rue des Saints-Pères 75006 Paris 1951

This is one of the doors Landowski created for his Temple of Man. The tympanum depicts Asklepius along with certain scenes from his legend. The bas-reliefs depict “the creation of earth, the myth of Pandora, Adam and Eve before the mysteries of life and death, the mythologies illustrating the struggle between good and evil, the victories of man through the legends of Heracles, Jason, Prometheus, etc… ” (Michèle Lefrançois, Catalogue Raisonné, p.401).?The plaster original is in the Musée Landowski in Boulogne-Billancourt.
