Reformation Wall

Promenade des Bastions, Geneva, Switzerland 1917

Landowski worked with Bouchard on this piece. The four main figures (John Calvin, William Farel, Theodore Beza and John Knox) were carved together by both sculptors. Among the side figures, Landowski carved Coligny, William the Silent and Bocksay. He also sculpted some of the scenes in bas-reflief: Knox at Saint-Giles, the Edict of Potsdam, the Mayflower Compact, the English Bill of Rights. The figures in the main group stand eight meters high and the entire wall is 120 meters long. The work was carved from Pouillenay stone.
